.It was not a real tapering for me. The mileage cut off a lot since 6 weeks ago after the light injury. There's increasing mileage actually on last week which is the 1st week of tapering. Trying to gain back the fitness and trying to taper, this is a confusing part. To some point I told myself, just do what I can. The missing day can't be chased back. The motivation is less and the excitement for training is less. Thinking back, now I feel 35 km run is such a long run. Except during last week around the houses run, that able to stand at start line and sprint for short distance, and met friends, that spice up the day. May be that's why there's a tune-up race in the later part of the schedule, to put some variety in day to day training.
I can always ask, what if I can really complete the schedule? The reality is I'm still not fit for it.
Take the good part.
Running was feeling more easy at pace while begin to taper. Running less also allowed me to settle much work before going for leave, and no need to rush for punch card after work. There's stress there, but tick it off one by one, if it's not well done I've done my best.
Wed after interval run got chased by two very fierce dogs at the junction exit from Padang Polo. The dogs where somewhere in front of Persatuan Bola Sepak across the road, and one dog started to bark at me once spotted me. One started to chase toward me from across the road, another one followed. It was a busy road usually but somehow they able to see the road was clear and ran it across towards me. That must be their territory where there so familiar with the traffic. I sprint for my life and still I feel they were approaching me. Desperately, I turn to throw the empty drinking bottle I have towards my back hopefully to scare them off. I continue to run till I hear no barking behind me. When I checked back in the Garmin record, my HR increase from normal to 170 within 20s.
It was so close. This was the second time I encounter such a fierce dog (one was 3 years ago in front good all hawker center beside a shopping mall). There were a few other occasion of chasing by the dog, but those dogs will slow down, stay and look when I slowed down. Not for those two. For so long I've been passing the place, I never had such a bad encounter. I remember I met them at the same place last year, and I was at the same side with them. The different is, I was already crossing the road when I heard their barking and I save by the traffic. This dogs problem is always an issue while training. It's a threat to life. This is serious There was incidence that morning jogger bitten death by a dog at his neighborhood.
On the weather, the weekend weather was not consider high in temperature but feeling sweating and uncomfortable even just sitting. I guess the humidity is high.
Due to the race will be on Saturday, this week training was cut short one day and move everything one day earlier.
3 more days to departing, wish everything will be fine.
