Almost there, but not again.

The return to training has been good until last week. Up to last Sunday the increase of mileage and develop of pace has been good, able to complete 24 km medium-long run on mild elevation and feeling good. It's like seeing dawn after the long dark period.

However, the first funny feeling started to feel on left feet after try to run in new shoes on Tuesday. It's an model that I wore before but 3 years ago. It has higher heel to toe drop is not the same that I've accustom after change to Pureflow. The mistake could be too far (distance) and too soon (pace) in a new shoes on a recovering feet. Shouldn't blame the shoes? Ya, but it is the only difference I can see. Things started to be unstable since that day onward, even resuming everything to normal. It's like a glass when it has small crack, further action will make it worse.

So far recovery has been taken slow and carefully, the weekly mileage for the past 9 weeks are: 3, 3, 6, 19, 22, 41, 50, 67 and 76.57. It has been long and really don't wish the setback come at this point.

Fri
(Dec 20 13)

14 kilometers 1:12:21 min 5:10 min/kilometer
Easy, Notes: Morning run in good weather. Started slow. As the run went on the pace picked up but within comfortable effort. The surface of edge of the road one side higher than the other gave some trouble to my left feet. The back of left ankle feel dull pain after the run. Why its always the left?
Sat
(Dec 21 13)

8 kilometers 47:51 min 5:58 min/kilometer
Recovery, Notes: Ankle dull pain disappeared after wake up this morning. Run was well. Left recent injury site feel pain while doing stride after the run. The pain came with upon slowing down. Need to really be careful on this. The left feet is weak and the limiting factor now.
Sun
(Dec 22 13)

14 kilometers 1:17:00 min 5:30 min/kilometer
Easy, Notes: Initial plan was 27 km long run. Due to the soreness from Friday left bottom ankle of left feet and pain on Saturday run recent injury site, thought of making a steady easy run. Theres no pain while walking nor resting. Started in very hot weather, the pace was easy and comfortable, gradually increase to 5:20/km with no extra effort. However, took every step of left feet very careful, tried not to put pressure, tried to move it through the ground. A funny feeling started to occur at left feet around 7-8 km. At first feel it at the left bottom ankle, then to the recent injury side. Not dare to put energy on each step. Continue a few KM more and decided to just turn back. Theres nothing to train for under condition like this. Was it due to overloading with carbo for the long run, or start under a hot weather, feeling heaty and down after the run. Oh please, not again.

  • Run Distance:78.13 kilometers
    Run Time:7:04:09 min
     Total Time:7:04:09 min
