This week consider a critical week for me, extending from the event to face last week.

In the time of stress I talk to a friend about how I am chasing with the time for tasks and at the same time worry for the training, just to air out my problems. And the reply I got was, "running is just for health", "fame and recognition is just secondary", alright, I know I've talk to one that don't quiet understand the journey of running I've taken into. This is very devastating. Runner friends (or understanding one) will probably say "it's ok" "slow down" "It'll be fine". But to put it as "this is for health" and "this is for fame and recognition" is totally different. For me, at this moment of life, running is not merely "for health", but a matter of "well-being". And certainly, it is never for "fame and recognition". For amateur runners, I guess no one run and train for that. In reverse, what I like about running is that the measurement is not with others, but with own self. After talking to that friend, it took me some energy to regain myself back to continue my tasks on hand. I guess support in life is really important, no matter in day to day work or running.

Omitted recovery run on Mon and Wed so can complete the tasks.
Altered Interval on Thurs to Fri, which turn out Interval, general aerobic run and long run in 3 consecutive days. Which could be not good for the tapering and recovery.
Due to the haze, I could feel the breathing is a little bit heavier than during the weather was normal.
The API recorded in Penang on the day I run is about 70. However, haze start to get worse here since yesterday (24 June 2013) and I guess might need to skip a few run.
Hopefully rain will come tomorrow as forecasted.

  1. Do not be disheartened. Your friend may just be sharing his/her opinion about running. To some running is just for health. But for you it's different, it's more than that :)
All the best for your upcoming event. Will be cheering for you

  2. I think for a person working hard to do the kind of mileage that you are doing,it is already a given that you are the kind who are very motivated to improve your best time for marathon. I know how it feels as I am that kind of runner too. We are driven to discover the limits of our ability. Not because we yearn for recognition or praise. I have never compared myself to others. I only compete with myself.
There is that sense of 'destiny'. It's like saying to God: I am here to accomplish what You have given me. And in the process, you discover Him and yourself....
Have a great run in KL. I would love to be able to pace you but judging from your current form and my lack of training, I would only be slowing you down. Keep your focus. And I believe you will do very well. :)

  3. Hi Francis, that's what exactly how I feel about, you always have the right words to describe about a feeling. "To discover our own limits" "destiny". It's not about comparison with others, but the conversation within self and to God. I guess this is hard to explain unless a person feel it themselves. It is just the same for someone who pursue their passion and dream.

I'm all excited for KL as I know a lot of you all will be at the starting line too. It's been hard for us to run together but KL is a chance as most of us are in. However I guess this would need to leave to next time as the race is postponed.
