In the morning of 16 April, before I departed to work I received the news from a friend that there's bombing at Boston Marathon. Couldn't believe, who would want to target at a friendly racing event? As I typed "Boston" at address bar, Google autosuggestion gave me "Boston Bombing", and "Boston Blast". I could somehow sensed the bad news. As I clicked through the internet, the news was confirmed.
Two explosions, 100 m away, finished line, injured, including death... Although the place was at another end of the globe, but impact in my heart was deep. Finish line, ribbons, runners, spectators, cheers, fun, it is the identical atmosphere at all the races. The feeling was so closed to me because no matter which race it occur, it will bring the same hurt and harm. And the same question, why?
Knowing avid runner blogger Francis was in the race. I quickly browse his blog for update but there's non. At that time I pray hard for him and other fellow Malaysian runners whom was participant. However, by the time I type this he has return and wrote about his experience and reflection here.
Today's news reported that two suspects were identified, one killed one at large. I guess everyone wish to know what's inside the 19 y.o mind. Anyone related to him? However, no matter what action taken on him, nothing will bring back the life that's lost and the damage caused. May be it's too huge of topic for me to think of, but I did look at the sky and asked, why? Is there anything I or we can do?
Pray for the victims and their families. For Boston, too.

ReplyDeleteYes Francis, I have the same idea too to give it a try. Hopefully I can make it.
