For a running diary, today's run is not something special as it's just another of run.
However, it's the special dates and occasion that spiced up the training.
As a recollection, I've been on the road for several occasion: New Year, Thaipusam, Chinese New Year, Valentine's, etc.
It was fun, as I can see the traffic changes and the difference of surrounding during those special day.
And among those differences, you see yourself strive for the same. And sometimes wonder, what are you doing on the road?
I remember last year's Valentine's I was doing interval run at Padang Polo. I had my isotonic bottle put near the toilet. And after some heavy interval I found the bottle gone. I shouldn't blame if anyone or monkey from Botanical Garden took it, it was my fault to put it without label "don't take this bottle because it doesn't belong to you".
That was a short story just to remember that particular day of 2012.
This year the reference would be my thought during today's run. I was thinking, there were so many running event booming up, would anyone one day organize "Valentine's Day Run". Since we have New Year Run, Eve of New Year Run, Thaipusam Run, Earth Day Run, Zoo Run, Merdeka Run, etc. The rules could be "registered as couple", and running-T or finishing-T is couples shirt, or badge, or rings, something matching. Chose a route ran across romantic landmark, or make the route a "heart-shape" from map. Sponsor could be from some special brand.
It was just a funny thought during the run. Seeing so many cars causing the jammed, I wondered would anyone come if there's a running event on this day?
I guess I was inspired by the coming Malaysia Women Marathon. The first of it's kind in this country and it sure will be the topic in the city. First time men have no place in a run. You men interested? You be the pacer, couple, partner, but you can't be the main participant. And the main sponsor was by Nestle Fitness, which I guess never would be in usual run. The finishing medal and t-shirt was replaced by other item. It somehow transform the event into targeted groups that can give certain impact. I can't wait to see this event happening. I think it will attract more people into running, and become a "lifestyle".
However it's a fact that running is really heated up in Malaysia. Friends around me start to take up jogging (including myself). And one thing is prominent that relatives that I met during this chinese new year also mentioned about running, which never happen before.
That was some random thought during today's run. For the record.
It's all good about running.
Share a pic that saw on Facebook, find it very suitable for runners on valentine's.
